The Comparison

is the title of a post made

Continuing the trend of just stealing funny things from message boards:

Stephen Malkmus’ musical sidemen/women and their corresponding Wu-Tang member.

S.M. = RZA
Obvious. Leader. Visionary. Distinctive. Restless. Without one the rest are none.

Stairs = Raekwon
Integral to initial success, but can’t shake the feeling that they would rather stay stuck in 1995. Consistant rumors of a comeback that hasn’t yet seen light of day (Cuban Linx 2 vs the pavement reunion). Overweight.

Ibold = Masta Killa
Quiet. Stable force. Came into play more on second album.

Nasty = ODB
Soul of group. Musical contributions rough but key.

Westie = Ghostface
Offbeat. Technically lacking but emotionally essential to group’s sound. Prone to ranting incoherently (see: Marble Valley). Questionable fashion choices.

G Young = U-God
Wack as fuck. Possible ongoing conflict with frontman.

Janet Weiss = GZA
Solid. Great chops. Hard-hitting. Keeps the group grounded. No question a great talent.

Joanna Bolme = Method Man
Sex appeal. Would be something of a minor figure without Malk (Bolme & E Smith vs Meth’s acting career). Occasionally drifts off with slightly more eccentric cohorts (Quasi vs Redman).

Mike Clark = Inspectah Deck
Bit player. Follically challenged.

John Moen = Cappadonna
Workman like contributions but nothing memorable. Drifted off into the sunset.
